How do I compare two phone number lists?

Paste one list per side with the same formatting, then compare. A only and B only show numbers unique to each side; Intersection shows shared numbers. ListDiff matches exact lines—it does not auto-normalize different phone formats.

Why don’t 555-0100 and 5550100 match?

They are different strings. Pick one format on both sides before you paste, or clean both exports the same way in your spreadsheet first.

Compare two phone lists line by line

Paste each list with the same format (same dashes, spaces, and country-code style). Then open A only / B only for numbers unique to each side, or Intersection for numbers on both.

Format first

Decide one style for both exports—e.g. all 555-0100, or all digits only.
555-0100 and 5550100 will not match; clean them the same way before pasting.
Leave Trim on. If Excel added invisible spaces, use Strip hidden chars when the tool warns you.
Wide CSV with name + phone? Extract the phone column with Col N, then compare.

ListDiff does not auto-guess country codes or fuzzy-match similar numbers—that keeps results predictable.

What each result means

A only — numbers in A that are not in B.
B only — numbers in B that are not in A.
Intersection — shared numbers.
Dupes — the same number repeated inside one list.

A: 555-0100, 555-0101, 555-0102
B: 555-0101, 555-0102, 555-0199
